Christmas 2021

When I was a child, a relative always wrote a lovely letter to her friends and our family. It was great, and I started the same tradition. At first, I would print letters and enclose them in a card. Then I started working on this new fangled technology called the Internet in 1996. That year I quit my job and started up a website hosting company. I had no idea what I was doing, but I needed to test and promote the new technology, so the family Christmas card hit the Internet.

Back in the ‘90s I dreamed of a program that could create websites so easily. Now it exists so I transformed all the old web letters to modern style and found many of the original high resolution pictures. Back then only tiny images could be used because internet speeds were so low. Enjoy a trip down memory lane.

This year the kids are back! Anna and Mike are here from London. Maria is here from Rochester and Greg is going to join us shortly. We’re off to go camp in a house up north for a few days. We’ll do some hiking and do some skiing and play some board games and drink some wine. V and Eva are coming too. They bought a house together this year, so Monika and I have some fix up projects at their place.

Not much has changed in their lives. They are all working and enduring the issues of the “New Normal”. We are fortunate to be healthy and without want.

Monika and I got out of the house for a week or so in May. We rented an RV and headed into New Hampshire for some hiking.

We had great weather and climbed a bunch of mountains. After working all of 2020 on fixing up the property in Rush it was a great to have time off away from the troubles of the world.

Monika and I did a second Road Trip to Virginia with the RV in early September. We hiked the Shenandoah mountains and visited a few National and State parks.

Vacation in Virginia

The Arts and Crafts department was hard at work the other day.

The house is all decked out with creative decorations.

Monika has cooked up a whole bunch of meals to take with us on our family get-away.

In an odd way, it is really is great to have to wait in line for the bathroom.

Being “Empty Nesters” has benefits, but being lonely sometimes isn’t one of them. Having all the traffic around the house is wonderful.

We opened all our presents on Christmas Eve, so now it’s time to pack up and hit the road for another adventure.

We hope that all of your family is healthy
and happy this holiday.

Be sure to enjoy each other’s company, and don’t sweat the material stuff.
