Christmas 2023

Before I sat down to write this I scrolled through all the pictures of 2023. I don’t seem to have time to look at all the pictures until the end of the year. I take them both for their beauty and for their information. Some are definitely way prettier than others. I really find it hard to believe we did as much as we did this year. It was lots of fun, but sad too.

The regular “Christmas Trees” I look at with my job.

Between computer junk and traveling I do yard maintenance here at Camp Sunshine.

Life is good with a little computer work for me, and Monika is home working a few days a week. They make her go to court occasionally, but less than before the Pandemic.

Kids are all good, wrestling with the world as we all are. They stay busy with work - and other things they can tell you about.

At some point as a proud parent, you become a true spectator. We can’t wait to see what happens next!

We are so lucky with little to complain about. Everyone has the same issues so why waste the effort?

Instead, we spend time walking around the trails of upper New Jersey and lower New York. If ever you want to “take a hike” let us know. We would love to go out with you.

If we are not at home we are on vacation!

In May to Utah and the great southwest again. This time we had a car and a tent so we could go more backroad. Click for Pix.

Then in September we did a a roadtrip in Poland. It’s a blast to have a nice car on really nice roads. We went everywhere around the country. Anna and Mike were with us. Click for Pix.

Our September Polish trip was to include a visit to see Monika’s mom. Sadly, she passed away just before we arrived. Our family was together for her funeral in Kraków.

She was a big part of our lives. She made regular trips to the USA when our kids were small, so they got to enjoy her company from an early age.

When she was here she made such great soups and other foods for our family. I always offered to invest in a big kitchen for her. I told her she could supervise chefs that I would hire to make her recipes. Then all of you could enjoy her cooking and she would be rich. She would laugh at my silly suggestions as she stirred.

We’ll miss the love she had for all of us as well as her smile, laughter, and sense of humor.

We also lost our pet cockatiel bird Ringo this year. He commanded air superiority over our living room since 2001. If ever you need Ringo to explain it to you in 30 seconds, click here.

Thank you for all the blessings we have. We hope you are enjoying the same. Please stay in touch. We all need more humanity.

“You humans, most of you, subscribe to this policy of an eye for an eye, a life for a life, which is known throughout the universe for its... stupidity. Even your Buddha and your Christ had quite a different vision, but nobody's paid much attention to them, not even the Buddhists or the Christians. You humans. Sometimes its hard to imagine how you've made it this far.”
